Safe. Seen.
Do you find yourself longing for these two feelings within therapy or in your relationships? As a marriage therapist Arizona couples trust, that is my hope for you today—to feel safe in the sacred space of your therapy session, and seen, regardless of the valleys you have come through. Furthermore, my goal is creating an environment where healing can truly begin.
Personal Background and Cultural Understanding
Allow me to introduce myself: I am a wife, mother of three boys, and a first generation Mexican American fluent in Spanish. Additionally, I enjoy whipping up new things in the kitchen and exploring the outdoors. My passion is to support and guide couples to sustainably feel most revived and connected through couples counseling that honors their unique cultural backgrounds.
Professional Experience as an Arizona Marriage and Family Therapist
I am a trained professional counselor that has gained extensive experience walking alongside adolescents, children, and families within various diverse backgrounds and situations. More specifically, I have worked in residential facilities with high-risk populations, dual diagnosis populations, and school-based settings. Moreover, this diverse experience has equipped me with the skills to address complex relationship dynamics effectively.
My work as a marriage therapist Arizona families depend on includes experience with individuals, couples, adolescents, and families facing:
- Trauma and its impact on relationships
- Fear and anxiety disorders
- Relationship anxiety and attachment concerns
- Simplified parenting approaches
- Sexual intimacy challenges
- Infidelity recovery and trust rebuilding
- Cultural barriers and bicultural relationship dynamics
- Spiritual integration (upon request)
Consequently, this diverse background allows me to understand the complex challenges couples face in today’s world.
Therapeutic Approach and Methodology
In counseling sessions, I collaborate with my clients to achieve a holistic journey toward their healing. Specifically, I draw from Attachment Theory, Emotionally-Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This means when you or your relationship feels stuck, we explore unmet needs and compassionately learn how to communicate and meet those needs effectively.
Together, we find ways to gain understanding and connection within relationships. Consequently, my approach focuses on helping couples develop sustainable patterns of connection. Communication is often the foundation of relationship healing, which is why I frequently incorporate proven communication strategies into our therapeutic work.
My Philosophy on Relationship Healing
Having been in the mental health field for over ten years, I have come to truly believe that YOU are the expert of your own story. Therefore, my role as your therapist is not to tell you who you are, but rather to guide and walk you toward personal freedom and self-understanding.
Additionally, I understand that every relationship is unique, especially when cultural differences and family-of-origin issues come into play. Through our evidence-based therapy approach, we can work together to honor your cultural identity. Similarly, we focus on building stronger relationship foundations that respect your values and traditions.
Bilingual and Culturally Responsive Services
As a bilingual therapist, I offer services in both English and Spanish. Furthermore, I understand the unique challenges faced by bicultural couples and families navigating different cultural expectations. Specifically, my firsthand experience as a first-generation Mexican American allows me to provide culturally sensitive therapy that honors diverse backgrounds and values.
Moreover, I recognize that spiritual beliefs often play important roles in relationships and healing. Upon request, I can integrate spiritual elements into our therapeutic work. Ultimately, this approach respects your faith traditions and beliefs while supporting your healing journey.
Creating Lasting Change
Healing doesn’t happen overnight, but with consistent effort and the right support, couples can create lasting positive changes in their relationships. Nevertheless, through our work together, you’ll develop tools and insights that extend far beyond our therapy sessions. Indeed, these skills will serve you throughout your relationship journey.
It would be an honor to hear your story and create a space for you to feel safe and seen in your relationships. Whether you’re facing communication challenges, trust issues, or cultural barriers, we can work together toward the connection you desire. Ultimately, my goal is helping you build the relationship you’ve always wanted.
